Since it was so cold today I sat around all day watching metal detecting videos and all that did was make me want to get out even more, so I got permission to hit a small yard in my neighborhood, the yard was about 40'X100'. I dug a bunch of trash, a ring, a religious medallion, and the heart pendant that nearly gave me a heart attack because all I saw was what looked like gold when i dug it out, and the neat variety of coins you see here, a 1944 1 ANNA from india, a 1944 3 Pence, 1941 Canadian cent, the aluminum token that says "grimland play coin" on front and the back has a 5 with 4 stars around it, 4 wheats, 1955, 1942, 1944, and 1946, and last but not least, my first silver of 2014, 1920D mercury!:headbang: its been a while since ive dug silver and that cured my itch:tongue3:!, thanks for looking and HH!!

Micro detecting urban areas yields some good finds.

Great finds! Someone must have either travelled a bit during the reign of George VI or it was part of someone's coin collection. Keep it up. HH,

cameo ring is awesome... great finds!

When you get the itch, it's time to scratch. Nice digs! That Merc has some detail to it.

Yeah thats what I thought, ive found foreign coins before but never any ftom the 40s

Congrats on getting to hunt another small yard. I tell everyone that it isn't the size that matters!:tongue3:

Interesting how that works sometimes. The theme in your finds appear to be 40's but your best find? In the 20's. ;)

nice!

I'd never heard the term "micro detecting" before but that truly sums up the technique! When a place has been pounded for a long time, micro is EXACTLY what I do. That's why I find where others don't. They've done their cherry picking and moved on.

I like it!

yeah i tried a different technique i havent done yet. Every time i heard a faint tone that was non ferrous i put the iron audio on and was able to pinpoint the goods amongst the trash, the merc had a nail and piece of scrap aluminum in the hole with it, i was getting anywhere from 40 to 84, worked out this time!

I run my ATP with iron audio on almost always, especially fields. Is this something you have read about, Cjon or just something you thought you'd try?

It took me a while to figure out all the signals when I started with the ATP. But, now, I always use it wide open. All metal, iron audio, full sensitivity. It's helped me to discern many hits that others would skip due to iron/trash nearby. One thing I miss is the way the Groundhog used to give me these VERY slight, quiet tones on a particularly deep coin. If the ATP is doing that, I'm not hearing them. It hits very, very deep! But, I used to be able to tell by those quiet tones.

I guess that's an improvement. :)

That's really cool. Busy yard! I like the cameo ring best :)

Maybe the guy collected British colonial money? Neat

Awesome finds...awesome variety !!!

Looks like fun indeed.
