Baby Hummingbird

While picking figs from my tree I stumbled upon this nest with baby staring up at me . I've now noticed the mother hummer coming in to feed baby so im keeping my distance until baby flys away . Enjoy the pic !

Sure its tiny and all. But just think how many cobwebs it took to make that cozy little nest! Thanks for sharing - they aren't all that easy to see or find.

Thanks for the replys ! We have twelve Humming bird feeders that see constant activity all times of the day . Im now wondering how many nests are around our property . I'll let you know if any more turn up ! Thanks again ...

Mike,How do you like all the noises they make,my fovorite is the one that sounds like a squeeky screendoor.I've had them look at me square in the eye a foot away.There was a program on the Nature Channel a while back about them,from all over the world.What Beautiful Creatures!

Yes they are beautiful creatures and provide us with much joy watching and listening to them when they sound off while they position and compete for a place to drink from the feeders . They can get very territorial at times when Im near or changing the nectar . I've had them fly within inches of me at times . There is one hummer that has more of a screem or screech . Much different than any of the others ! Thanks again ...

Update : The baby left the nest ! Im a bit sorry that I was not able to be there to catch it's first flight but oh well ! Since my last post I have located two more Humming bird nests . Both with mother's nesting . I'll try to get some close up pics in the next day or so . Thanks for the kind words ...

Here are more photos of two different nests from our property . First is one on the south side looking through my fence . Second and third are another nest on our west side of our yard . Both are only about five feet off the ground . I'll post more info later . Enjoy the pics !
