After the amazing finds of the last few weeks it was back down to earth with the usuall slog, the Roman field has been put to bed for a while due to the crop coming on strong with the mild weather. After looking for and recovering a lost tractor part for the farmer I decided to give the Castle Field another look at, this field is due to be ploughed and sown this week and we can detect on it after it has been done so should produce something nice next week, first find was Silver Victorian Four pence (Groat) Young Head Britannia Seated 1843 this was a first for me, second find squashed medieval ring bit crude but did once have a stone in the centre, next find quite a nice button and intact I think I might post this on the what is it thread, the next find was one of the more common UK finds a nice spindle whorl only this one is much smaller than the ones we usually find and with some nice detail on it as well, managed to get one small Roman Bronze and that was about it, still I can't grumble after the month I have just had
