Hello fellow t-neters,
Its been over 2 years since I've had a chance to get out and detect. Our family is now larger by 2. So we now have a 7 year old son, a 2 year old son and a daughter that just turned 1 on July 3rd. Needless to say finding the time to detect has been nearly impossible. But today i took advantage of the 105 degree heat index and ventured over to my wifes grandmothers house (one of the first houses built in town (circa 1860)) to relax and enjoy the cool. I targeted the area between the sidewalk and the street thats about 15 feet wide and 100 feet long for a little over two hours. I didn't start digging anything of interest until halfway thru my hunt.

First item dug......1979 penny....(its gonna be a long day)
Then i hit a dime, a few pennies, and a quarter within about 10 mins of each other.......(ok, not bad for a couple years off)
Then i get a solid quarter signal and I'm thinking "things are going to be ok" when I pull out a standing liberty quarter. At this point I'm totally thrilled and put down the equipment to enjoy an ice cold PEPSI and smoke a camel to bask in the joys of my discovery. (even if the beauty is so rubbed down there is no date and all of her features are gone.) I'm thinking it was somebody's "worry stone", carried in a pocket for 50 plus years.
Last item dug.....an air horn they gave away at last years county fair.

So hunt total is....
2 clad quarters
1 clad dime
4 pennies
1 1944 wheaty
1 standing liberty quarter
13 pop tabs
1 folded copper piece of metal with embossed designs ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1437273946.542469.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1437273977.942261.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1437273995.143554.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1437274011.562227.jpg

1 cap nut
1 air horn

Nice silver save there ! :occasion14: :metaldetector: :treasurechest:

The folded copper is a late 19th C picture hook/hanger.

Thanks for the info, Crusader. I almost threw it out but decided to clean it a bit then saw the designs.

SEE YOU GOT YOUSELF A BEAR CHASER.

The standing quarter still has some detail, great coin even though the date has been worn off. That happens often with those early date standers,

not bad at all, gotta love a day with a SLQ!!

Nice silver SLQ! Congrats! If the air horn still works, the kids are gonna love that!

Time slips away when your busy, enjoy those little ones while they are little!

My 7 year old was working the air horn over trying to make it work but it looks some kid taped down the nozzle to make a constant sound and threw it down as a joke. Yep my son was severely disappointed...lol.
I enjoy every minute with my kids.....the things they say and do just amaze me!!! I am hoping to score a couple of metal detectors next week at an auction. If i do get one or two then i can give my son the bounty hunter platinum I've been using and gain a hunting buddy. He loves to go hunting with me, always asking to run my detector.
