BACK TO THE OLD COLONIAL CELLAR HOLE...

Got back out before the snow to one of my all time favorite cellars

It was a virgin site when i found it and pounded it to death

My favorite find was the Compass for sure

The House was abandonded in about 1880 but it could be much older..

The bottms on it pivot and everything it was a pretty quality instrument of the day..

And the usual buttons and finds..Had fun its gonna be a killer year

I really like that compass JB! I wonder what the age is on it? It's at least pre-1880s if that's when the house was razed but it would be really sweet if it was colonial era. Nice display case too.

JB - did all those finds in the last pic come from that site? If so, it definitely dates back to the mid-to-late 1700s. Looks like it's been quite a prolific buckle producer. And I love that compass. That's the first early one I've seen dug. WTG!
