I do in fact love Troy's X5. Excellent for coins and relics and it dies search deep. I have not had it to the ocean beach however. And the beaches are close to three hours from here.

Has anyone used this machine on a salt water beach? It does have a "Beach Mode" toggle switch but would sure like to get some first hand knowledge from those who have actually used one there. Thanks in advance.

Fine on the dry sand, but no good on wet saltwater sand.

How much falsing Terry? Controllable to any degree at all or basically just forget it?
Bad falsing, all the toggle really does is drop sensitivity. Yes, you can do a SLIGHT negative ground balance on the wet sand in beach mode, then drop the sensitivity another three-notches. You will lose depth but cut 50% of the false beeps. DO NOT touch the wet sand with the coil! Good Luck and Big Gold!

I think I'll pass and most likely buy one of them Minelab Manticores. That would not be worth the trip with all them issues. Thanks for the info.
