Probably a long shot, but maybe it was somehow affiliated with:

i hav'nt cleaned it but looks like back side has SPRINGFIELD MASS writen on it and something else i cant make out, has anyone seen one of these before ?

i found out this is a watch fob, yr. unknown though thanks for all the help ROCK ON
