The plantation slave site is one of the .most important and incredible sites I've ever been a part of!! an absolutely incredible site, that is an important narrative in Bahamian cultural heritage!!

Incredible finds, and looks like you had a great time too. Thanks for sharing what you can.

Thanks robert...ill share more shortly, just have to unpack it all....both physically and in my brain !!🤯🤯

added the shipwreck debris video....we went looking for a shipwreck we knew of, and then found a second shipwreck site a couple miles away.....is it possible it's from the same wreck...yes....more investigation is needed, and now we must get in the water to search for more wreckage!!

That's sads669 from t-net holding the big ships davit in the video !!

I see you've taken Shrek for another walk on the beach... if his tongue starts hanging out and he begins to pant, remember to water him!!

Incredible artifact found yesterday by a good friend. A slave braclet / cuff ......it was found at a slave jail site, and whipping post site !! Just a very lonely and dark site. Many atrocities happened here !! The picture of the platform with the hole in the floor was the site of a whipping post.....slaves were brought from the jail in shackles and tortured on the whipping post !! This artifact will be presented to the AMMC of the Bahamas!! This is one of very few examples of slave shackles that still exist.....definitely never seen one quite like this either.

These other artifacts were collected last week, and some are included from my September 2024 trip....all will be curated, and returned to the Bahamas and the AMMC for the Bahamian people!! The AMMC is Antiquitys Monuments and museums corporation !!

Awesome finds! Also good to see coyote taking a break from torturing himself with insects.
I managed to convince him to fly to the end of the earth with me, then hop on a connection flight that takes you right over the edge !! Dude is tough as nails, and can trek with the best for sure....he's the real deal !!

I'm not surprised, he seems like a go getter. I am willing to bet it didn't take much convincing at all.

hello Bart both of you looked like you had fun. the torpedo bottle looks pre 1914 possibly 1850.

The bottles were also easy to transport via boat on flat shelves with holes on them so they wouldn't fall over when the ship moved. 1914 marks the end of the torpedo bottle era. They are no longer necessary as they are replaced by Malenstrone's 1901 patent that allows normal shaped bottles to contain gas.

Here is more about your glass bottle they are rare as hens teeth these days.

Here is history of manufacture of these bottles. The company produce ginger beer and carbonated water..

Here is link to Henry shilling a German living in England that sold his product in many bottles. one that was in torpedo bottles.

Henry Shilling

By the mid 19th century its illustrious customers included Queen Victoria, the Prince of Wales, Napoleon III and the King of the Belgians.”

Hello Bart

I cannot comment on the Slave Cuff. Because the history of slavery has been taken over by Afro America race and victim politics. While indeed they suffered much from Slavery. But ignore inconvenient truth Slavery and in all is watered down versions was imposed on many races and even white people. And as you see any comment would slip down a slippery slope into politics which is not allowed here. However interesting and sad reflection from times past. it appears it could of been part of leg irons.

see image below see LC-1

While it possible it was connected slavery. leg irons was common on sailing ships before 1890s. from British warships to many other vessel to imprison unruly sailors and even to shanghai some. especially in Napoleonic wars when the British navy was desperate for crews.
You are finding interesting stuff giving broad picture of past of maritime commerce, industry transnational trade and evolving evolution of humanity at the focal point over the past few hundred years. From your wonderful post Royal Island has indeed many more secrets to reveal.

I see different sets of nails suggest to two time periods? Machine cut round wire nails suggests late industry revolution and old hand forged square cut nails. They are bent perhaps suggest copper? generally iron nails gone in such a corrosive environment.

Since some of the pottery artifacts shown classic Chinese trade pottery. The wreck could be British around 1840 to about 1870? or the items was imported to the island. England was running out of timber and more of those vessels built was in the east Indianman design from about 1830 0nwards. that was built of composites more and more iron incorporates in the framework of the ship. there was class of 114 merchant ships from that time period only two was built of oak. Britain after losing America turn to source timber from Asia in regards to teak. Is that I Spy in one of your pictures copper sheathing? if they are that might help with dating as copper sheathing gave way to Muntz metal sheathing during a transitional period.

Since the site you found land habitation and a shipwreck. the location of where each item will hep uncover it context to the time and place in regards to shipwreck or land based occupation to get the full story.

Cheers Crow
