Had another great trip fishing in the Bahamas (my 9-5 job) but when it's blowing or to rough to fish I'm treasure hunting. Didn't have much time this trip to hunt , but got in some detecting, beachcombing, and mudlarking. Found plenty of 18 pound cannonballs, and lots of shipwreck debris on a windswept secret beach deep in the islands !! There were great areas to mudlark, and beautiful potsherds, beach glass, and clay pipe parts to dig along with all sorts of other material. I shared the wreck site with friends and everyone got a cannon ball, and had a great time. My favorite coin of the trip was the 1782 thaler copper .... my first and only so far.

Very cool finds!

The coin is actually 1/24th of a Thaler (that’s what the ‘24’ indicates). Kingdom of Prussia, with the mintmark ‘A’ for Berlin.

Subdivisions of the Thaler varied by region in the Prussian empire (until unified in 1821), but I think yours would be for the German regions where it was divided into 24 Groschen, with the Groschen further divided into 12 Pfennige.

So, the coin is a Groschen.

What he said.😁

How did the cannon sound with the detector?
Faint deep iron tone/grunt....there are more there, so might be an even larger target pick up than just one cannon ball.

Thank you @Red-Coat "Groschen" it is !! Thank you sir !! I had definitely not seen this one before, but it fits the time period of the loyalist grants in the Bahamas!! I can look at the survey maps and see who was on this site !!

Numista says its 0.312 silver.
Either way, you seem to be the veritable pirate of TN, always coming up with interesting treasure.
Numista gives great info !! Thank you @pete61 ... I like pirate of treasure net designation!!

What Bahamian Island are you on?
We spend time at several islands, and fish around others that are uninhabited. Spanish wells, harbor island, crooked island, long island, san Salvador island, rum cay, conception island, cat island, and others !! We tour around the islands fishing !!

Cat Cay has a wreck offshore.
Not sure if you have diving gear with you.
It's shown on an old Thomson map from 1700's.
Not sure if you have access to that.
