My Mom flew in from Pennsylvania for a visit and yesterday my whole family came to watch Tennessee defeat Miss. State. I decided to bake a Country Ham I'd had hanging in the kitchen. Normally they are at their best when they've been hung and go through a "summer heat". However, I let this one go thru 2 summers! It was time to be cooked or fossilized; one of the two. here's the result:

Baked Country Ham.webp

And here's the recipe :

Servings: 20
Preparation Time: 8 hours
Start to finish: 14 hours

Categories: American, Pork & Ham

1 Country ham, Whole, Soak in water for 8 hours.

2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

3. Cover in foil and bake at 400 degrees for 1 hour.

4. Turn down oven to 225 and bake 35 minutes per pound of ham.

Enjoy! :P

You are really wanting me to get sick from that ham....aren't ya Gypsy Woman? ;D

I think you're just jealous I didn't send you some ::)

My, my! Have you ever thought of doing standup comedy? When you do, let me know and I'll come with a sack full of country ham and biscuts and eat 'em while you're doing your gig :D

Wes, you seem to know foods, and I'm sure the ham tasted good, but I wouldn't of ate it. :o ;D

Bean...I appreciate your remark. I was the guinea pig for the rest of the family. It did taste good and most of it is gone and nobody went to the hospital. I am going to try very hard to let a ham go through only one summer next time. ;D

Errr Gypsy...don't you have some research to do? ;)
