Okay.....as they say, the journey of a thousand miles starts with one small step. Last night me and the Mastereagle rang in the season with our first group hunt of the year. I refer to it as a "group" hunt because he is so freakishly big! ;D He is as tall as a six-foot, three-inch tree and three axe handles wide. ::)

We didn't really have anywhere to go, so we headed back to a private residence where he and I have gone many times. This place has produced over a dozen Mercs from the 20's and 30's, jewelry, a civil war fork, Tootsie toys and even a foreign coin. We love this place, but it is really been pounded. The night was pretty uneventful, but I managed to take a few lessons from ME22 regarding my new SE Pro. I was suprised....he really seems to know that detector! I almost thought he was smart a couple of times while he was tutoring me. (He has a mind like a steel trap, although rusty.....and the hinge doesn't work anymore.) I found lots of iron signals, but few high tones. I finally managed a wheat penny. It was a 1952D. Other than trash, that is all we found. ::)

We left this place and went to eat. ME22 had no money, so once again I had to bail him out. I payed for his twenty or so burgers and then jumped back from his hands and mouth. :tard: He has been referred to as “The Hungry Thing” at Hardees. With our bellies full, we decided to head back out hunting.

Like Mastereagle….the plan was simple, ONLY this plan might work. :icon_study: We were going to head off to the oldest part of town, and hit a yard that we had done before. We found some old printing plates in this yard from the 1920's, and were holding out hope something was left there. This is a very old part of town, and was the original road that led to a courthouse standing during the Civil War. They marched Confederate prisoners down this road to jail in the basement of the court house. We didn't find much though. I found a 1916 wheat amongst some rusty square nails, and ME22 found an awesome button that I believe is a Confederate Uniform button. I will post a few pics of his button....What do you all think?

Its about time ya'll got busy again......oh that button MaterEagle found...that was off my shirt. Glad you found it! :icon_thumleft:
BB, maybe you need to see if you can get a company to sponser ya'lls digging. It would help to hold down on the cost of feeding him and they could write it off!

The button has no markings on it at all.

I will take some better shots of it and try to post later on today.

Mastereage is correct. (Did I just write that down?) It doesn't have any marks on the button, but look really old. It is a once piece as the pic shows. I guess it would be hard to prove that it is Confederate, but I have seen button that look just like this and had them attributed to Uniforms from the South. It's old and cool no matter what it's origin.

Mastereagle.....have you lost this button, or do you still have it? :tard:
