Has anyone ever run into this? I went to the same bank that I got my first bag two days ago and asked if I could speak to a vault teller to try to order a box and was told that he isn't allowed to order halves anymore. He offered to call me when the coin machine bag (of 1000) fills up. I asked how often it fills and he said that it depends and that there is someone who regularly comes in with halves so I decided to pass on spending 1000 on a bag that probably has no silver.

I found it strange that a bank couldn't order coin and felt like they just didn't want to deal with a CRH.

If anyone here happens to be from nassau county, new york or dumps there send me a message so I can try to avoid picking up your coins. Thanks

You may be right with the idea that your bank just doesn't want to deal with another roll hunter.
I would still buy the bag though, as you are "spending 1000 on a bag" that may or may not contain silver. You haven't lost one thousand dollars.

Ya I know I wouldn't lose the money I laid out for the bag but I can't imagine that going through 2000 halves is something which is quick to do. Considering most of the coins are probably from another hunter I doubt I would find much silver, if any. I'm just not sure its worth the initial investment, and the time spent sorting and returning the coin. I can look around elsewhere for a bank that can buy a box for me. My aunt is a teller at chase, maybe she has some connections

There must be a "memo" running through all the TD Banks because none of them are ordering halves. I have a local bank near me that is also very reluctant to order halves at all.

The rolls are nothing more than bags from machines that get rolled up by the carrier anyway. You are going to get mostly CRH dumps with a few halves from someone's coin jars, etc., basically the same mix that ends up in boxes.

Just beware - those bags "fill up" and they count may be short. The best thing to do is see if the bank we re-run them through the machine to check the count.

I really want to say, "Don't buy anything, there is no silver to find." But that's not nice!

PS - I bought a bag and got shorted almost $100 a couple weeks ago. Good news is it goes just as fast through a bag as a box. I only found two 40% - was not worth the huge loss.
