Bank errors

We all deal with the banks on a daily basis. Has anybody ever had a bank error in their favor?

Almost. Teller tried to give me about 4 extra rolls of pennies not long ago. I'm pretty honest so I corrected her. I try to treat them nicely to keep up the good reputation.

I had a teller sell me $74 Ikes.... I got home and counted them. There were 75 in the bag :icon_thumright:

A few months back I tried a box of quarters ($500). The teller attempted to charge me $250.00--but I informed him he was incorrect. He blushed red as a beet, but thanked me so many times. I now go in an get dimes, nickels--almost anything I want anytime. I have never been refused even the largest or smallest requests at this bank.

I don't abuse it, but one good deed does deserve another. I generally only order the small stuff at this bank to "tide me over till' the halves come thru."

It's what a friend of mine here on the forum calls "good karma." Do unto others . . . .

Had the bank forget to reset the counter before dumping my halves in. Walked away with 1110. I told them it didn't sound right, but they had me take it. Called them again later and said I was pretty darn sure I only had $1000. I sometimes pick up random amounts from other banks if they have any on hand, so I wasn't positive myself. Later they called back and thanked me for telling them, as they found the count was off by $110, so they just drafted it from my account.

Happens all the time. Almost always a teller error. I tell them and add another teller to the my list of good sources for coins. Once I got shorted on a bag of halves, it was filled with silver so I didn't bother counting as I was a bit excited. The next time I went in the teller gave me the money I was shorted. This could turn into a good/bad karma thread fast.

i once dumped $500.00 in halves into the machine at my dump bank, it made weird noises as if it were throwing the coins at 100mph at the door that covers the bags...the ticket/voucher said $672.00, i told them, they them audited the bags, and said there was no error whatsoever as far as what they could see, and they said they had to give me the $172.00 extra. i was very glad, because it happened to be at a time when i REALLY needed the money, and it was very useful...keep it up and hh!

never in a bank but a brinks roll of dimes were 6 short, and a machine roll of half dollars had $11.50 in it

Yesterday a teller tried to sell me 4 rolls of halfs. She was actually holding 4 $25 dollar rolls of gold dollar coins. I told her about it. See? They can't even get rid of them when they try to be sneaky. :laughing7:

Ok since I started the thread...

Mine happened this weekend, I bought 4 rolls of halves from the sit down teller at the really, really large TARP bank. I tried, I mean, I really tried to give the guy 2 $20's. But he insisted that I had already given him the money. I had the ATM reciept to prove I had just pulled the cash, but after the 3rd try, I'm keeping the cash. Oh and another thing...I don't have an account with them so they have no idea who I am.

hahaha..that same thing happen to me once buying halves and she handed me dollar coins..but your right..they can barely give them things away

I was on a road trip when mine happened ! ! ! I have no account at this bank and it was my last stop of the day....SO i tried to load up, with 100 nickels 200 dimes 100 halves and the lady charged me 300.....i thought of it as payment for the BS tellers dish out !

A good one of mine happened about 10 years ago I was headed to Europe. I was grabbing some travelers checks [ something we dont do much these days] I bought 500 bucks worth and she only took out 400 from my account. I realized it on the plane and verifyied it when I came home 4 weeks later and just let it go ! Figured it.... one for the gipper! :icon_pirat:

this week I opened a new account and walked out with 4 rolls of quarters and found a nickel in one roll. Win some loose some. :hello2:

It's been several years now, but twice within a 2 year period my wife had her paycheck electronically deposited twice. We kept waiting for the money to get withdrawn or taken away, but that day never came.
