When I click on either of these banner posts with gold coins, some other banner thread comes up instead. Here’s a screen shot of the two gold coins I clicked on.

Todd can you send links of the posts please sir.

The banner finds are constantly changing and I’m not seeing the ones I screen shot earlier. I’ll give you a link if I see them again. Sorry!

Okay, here’s another one. I clicked on this ring circled in red.

When I click it, I go to a thread about a completely different skull ring.

Hey no problem just FYI, there is a forum at the top of "Our Discoveries" titled "Banner Finds", all banners are there. (Just above "Today's Finds")

Top Treasure Finds will sometimes draw picures that are posted in "Top Finds" threads that have accompanying pictures with the top find. If someone posts great find but also posts something else in their post picture may occasionally get picked.

Example, post gold coin find along with clad coins software may sometime grab the clad coins on occasion because it was posted in opening post.

I open new thread in Admin forum on this issue with link to this thread. I will update when I hear if admins dont.

I'm sure the powers to be had a great reason in changing how the BANNER looked, or could be viewed.
K.I.S.S. worked for years, folks got use to it, it was the BANNER and it was simple.

Over thinking a simple thing often crates confusion, and over the past few years it has created just that.
Lots of great members just have given up and went to other sand boxes to play.

Unfortunateltly the new software did not have the ability to have the rolling banner as before.

We needed new software as the old was past being supported and was constantly failing even with the repair patches. The old software was close to 20 years old.

I think I know what the issue is in this case. The add-on that we are using simply pulls images from that particular forum. It doesn't necessarily pull the 'banner find image' just any image that's located posted inside that forum and links to that post. We've already spent about 20 hours custom coding it to work the way it does, because it wasn't even intended to work that way... it was a broken mess. It also had to be updated to work with the 2.3 version of the software because it was only made for the 2.2 version.

I see the post above about 'not fixing things that aren't broken' -- but again, that doesn't apply because we were required to upgrade to this software due to security holes in the old software. A site is broken if anyone can hack it and delete it at will... especially today, it's more important than ever to apply security updates and fixes. We literally had no choice.

I'll get with Dan and see what ideas he may have about fixing the banner finds plugin even more to refine it to just show the actual 'banner finds' post.

When you find another one of these that is broken, please take a screenshot of the broken link and also copy the link it's trying to bring you to and paste them both. That will help me dig into it further.

Spot on Pep!!!!!! Maybe it's the site layout maybe not but it sure seems that the past members were really into the history aspect of finds compared to just the worth of them. Things have def changed some.

Seems odd that in this day and age that they couldn't figure out how to keep the rolling banner but that's just me. I'm not real techy

Thank you sir, I can attest to you guys trying to get the banner working and the time you spent on it as we discussed it at length in the Admin forum.👍

They tried, but it isnt a feature of XenForo software.
That seems fairly strange. Rotating image banners/carousels are pretty standard stuff for web toolkits.
