I got out yesterday with the dudes themselves (zoyboy, Paco, Silver Zeus) to the old grove. The day turned out to be a "dandy." My 1st coin of the day was an 1864 Two-Cent piece at 3". When I was digging it, I thought, "Hmmmm, probably an Indian Head." I was definitely suprised when I plucked it from its resting spot and saw the reverse of the coin. It is in decent shape for being in the ground for so long.
After that recovery, the dudes and I decided to take a break. That was when I told them what I had found. Silver Zeus seemed a little jealous, stating, "I wish I would find one of those." hehehe
After the break, we got back to swinging our White's machines. My 2nd coin of the day was the 1911 Barber dime at 2.5". After that, the Barbers started to rain down on me. My little DD was yanking them out like there was no tomorrow. About 10 minutes after my 1st Barber, I got a 1903 at 3". Then, 2 minutes after that, I flipped the 1897 out at a depth of 3". In the same area, I dug an 1884 Indian Head at a depth of 3.5". To end the day, I found 3 Wheaties.
Here are the dudes' finds:
Paco: 1901 + 1912 Barber dimes, 1881 IH, some Wheats
zoyboy: 1881 IH, numerous Wheats
Silver Zeus: 2 IHs, handful of Wheats
So, overall, it looks like I won for the day!
