When we arrived on the farm we were sad to see that the other 2 better fields had not been touched, due to the overnight rain. It may rain all week, putting back the harvest at least 2 weeks until the ground drys.
We did 3 hours today:

3 scrappies
Buttons
Cufflink
2nd C AD Umbonate Roman Brooch with enamel & pin - Cru'dad wins find of the day for a change:hello2:

I'm stunned that any enamel can be intact 1800 years later - Great find !

The Roman's built to last, can you remember the brooch I had with the working pin.

Great finds, I wish the Romans had dropped off some stuff on our soil.

Just before I saw your response about the working pin - I was looking again at this latest brooch , and thinking it's gotta be rare to
find one with the pin there at all , much less functioning !

(Yeah , the Romans weren't big on "planned obsolescence" )
