All the straw is now off the field but we still are awaiting rain that is due tomorrow.
We changed tactics & went to the far edge outside of the normal spread of coins. We did this for a couple of reasons, it's between the site & the river, it's an area we haven't done so much & area I can't do with my high powered machine because of the power lines. So Dad with his Cortes covered some new area whilst I gridded as close as I could & then headed toward the good area. After nearly 5 hours it was only partly successful:

3 Scrappies
Nice Button
Lead Token
17th C Token
Jetton
Dad got a bit of a Viking Stirrup Mount, sad it was busted up so bad.

Rain will simplify detecting there and the possibility to get more/better viking stuff is incentive enough! :occasion14:

Congratulations on the productive hunt, I love the buttons.

And this is only partly successful! I'd call it super finds!

Interesting finds Cru, I like the padlock face and the 'GR' military button! :occasion14:

Too bad about your Dad's Viking Stirrup Mount not being complete. :icon_scratch:

Being the only Viking piece we have ever had off the field & that it came off a horse, the likelihood of anything else is about 0.

Amazing that you could I.D. that off that small fragment ! (the Viking piece )

Fairly easy field ID (Dad thought buckle plate) when its your special area of interest.

Continue to amaze :notworthy:

The Royal Army Service Corp button has a special meaning to me as its the same WWI type that my Great Grandad would have worn. He went over to France in the earliest wave of Soldiers, & he was one of the few who came back. I have his medals.

Hard to see but its a Bronze Pin, most likely a Roman hair type.

Roman Coin picture added to top.
