Barley Stubble Fields...

As I have pretty much finished with the Roman Site (for now), & because I wanted to get a hammered I decided to try the stubble fields near my house.

The first one I tried was my 1st Fav Field, the second field was next door. I put on the 11" coil to see if I could weed out some deeper stuff, as I have hit this field hard in the past.

Some people (including myself) worry about losing sensitivity when using a big coil, however I will never worry again having found a Farthing of Edward I (circa 1280s). It was next to iron & a button, & I heard all three. I dug the button first which was a clear signal about 10"s from the mixed iron/silver signal, then I dug the hammered & left the nail under it. This machine is amazing!

These tiny coins are rare to find, I have only had 1 before.

Pleased with the patterned 17th century button which is a new type for the collection.
3 Scrappies
Broken up Roman Disc Brooch
Military Capbadge
Book Clasp
Most of a Couldron foot

Dated Lead Token 1765 (backwards 5), with a Windmill. Rare to get them dated, I only have about 5.

So a very successful 3.5 hours. :icon_thumright:

Another successful hunt. That hammered is tiny. What a neat find :icon_sunny:

Understand dept is not the most important factor when hunting fields. I prefer a larger coil when hunting and you being impressed with your metal detector is as much the experienced operator :thumbsup:

The more you detect the better operator you become. Finding all these treasures is just awesome :hello2:

A little girly sized hammered silver coin, wish I could find one, LOL. I pushed my way through a stubble field yesterday, tough going and I didn't find much. Nice finds and HH, Mike

Awesome finds. That coin is very tiny. Great pics and love reading/seeing your finds. Wish we could have finds like that on this side of the pond.

Yes very satisfying. When we have done a site like this for so many years, it becomes a matter of sucking up all the tiny pieces of lead we have missed & clearing the iron nails as well. The more years we do the less tolerate to iron we become.

This makes the 30th hammered off this field, 2 of them Gold, also 6 or so Roman Silver, many bronzes & some cracking artifacts. Thats why its No.1 & will stay that way for some years.

Again very nice hunt. The silver fathing is great, also like the lead DATED token... is it from Holland?
I would imagine the the top item on the third photo is a pan weight? Nice what ever it is...

The token is likely to be local issue (we did have windmills), so might be researchable.

The item is the nicely decorated 17th century Button.

It's a quite well token for sure, nothing on the back side?
Could you make an apart photo of the token, it would be nice to see what the decoration is?

You know Cru, that after reading a thousand times for years how small the silver hammers are, I actually never realized really just how little they really are until this post of yours with it pictured on the US penny.
