After reading the post by Giant056, I couldn't take it any longer and had to get out. Went to a park with some baseball diamond fields and found a little coinage to help me get through till the weather warms up and the ground gets softer. Although detecting in the winter is fun, I must admit it is a lot of work digging in the frozen snow. It makes it hard not to nick the finds. F H

I'm with you brother, Sometimes an addict has to get his fix! ;D

I was doing the same thing last week, came up with $1.03 in clad and a toy motorcycle. It was well worth the trip!

We should get metals for hunting in the frozen north ;D :P

The temp was 31 degrees Far. Not as cold as it looks. It kinda felt rather warm compared to the cold snap we just had and it's only getting warmer.

Way to brave the elements! Is the ground frozen there? How deep is the frost? Our ground is hard as a rock here in Iowa. I have the feeling it would take forever to chip through the ground to get to a target. But I have to admit I haven't tried it. It's been frozen here since Thanksgiving.

Glad you got out.

It's frozen solid 4 to 6 inches. Feels like chipping through rock. I used a brick mason hammer which made it a lot easier. A regular type hammer is too curved to get any depth The next few days should be warm enough to soften it up a bit.

Man, You got the fever bad bad bad..lol Was almost 70 here today and tried the beach..detecting that is and not swimming..You did better than I did...found all of 2 dimes and a fishing weight..HH and hope it warms up up there soon for you.
