Cut up one green pepper and one yellow onion. Place in skillet with 1 lb. of hamburger meat. Simmer until meat is cooked. Drain off fat. Place in crockpot with 16 ounces of bush's pinto beans and 16 ounces of bush's baked beans . Drain off juice from the pinto beans. In a bowl, mix approximately 3/4 cup of brown sugar, 2 tlbspoons mustard and about 1/2 cuo (more or less) of ketchup. Stir in sauce mixture and let it simmer for about 2 hours. Goes great with hamburgers, hotdogs or any grilled meats

sounds great...here is a hint....instead of browning the hamburger...boil it! what I do is get the water (say an inch or so) boiling, add my salt or spices depending on what I am making...and then add a lb. of THAWED hamburger...using a masher the whole time blending it all together...boil that down on high until you get rid of the liquid. what this does is give me a finely and even textured meat that is evenly diffused with spices...oh, yeah...and add that onion too and get that flavor blended into the meat as well!

Think i'll give that a whirl Unclemac

I wanna cook too. How about 3 yellow peppers & a bunch of green onion?

I think the yellow peppers would work as well. Unfortunately, the queen of this domain is not interested in any food that is even remotely spicy. I think the recipe would be great with a few slices of jalapenos or as you stated, with some banana peppers. ... My bottle dreams

That's flat out gross! NEVER boil meat! Too many other ways to cook meat for me. By chance, were you ever a cook in the U.S. Army? lol.

don't knock it if you haven't tried it...I am talking ground beef here not prime rib....

Hey unclemac!! Sounds Sumptious to me!! The only thing you are missing is a little TAbasco Sauce!! AMERICA!! WOW!! Now that would be a KILLER!! GOOD HUNTING!! VERDE!! Obviously from down under in the wonderful bayou country of Louisiana!!

speaking of which....Louisiana and all that...

now I know it is a different state but...that is just MESSED UP!!!! just look at that thing!!!!

there is hot sauce and then there is Tabasco...how can you go wrong?...food of the gods....but remember Mrs. Bass Assassin won't touch things remotely spicy. And I feel his pain too bro...Mrs. Unclemac won't eat anything i wave hot pepper over....

GaReb- don't be too quick to judge. I've been a chef for 30 years, and believe it or not, this is a legit method-- just remember this is a topping for something else, so it's important to have a finer texture than you'd ever want in chili or sloppy joes, or something like that. Stuff like that on hot dogs or sausages is awesome. Bon appatite!

The original post was about a side dish, not a topping.
