Battle of Thompson's Station, TN (Civil War)

Haven't posted anything in a while. Decided to go to an area where I grew up....Thompson Station,TN. I remember finding mini balls there as a teenager. A couple of the items I found I still am not sure what they are. The long piece of lead is hollow (2nd from the right on bottom row).....don't know what this would be....any help would be appreciated. The 2 pieces that look like tokens...no idea what they are either. They have a tiny hole in the center and are plain on the back side. No distinctive markings on them either. Any way....it was fun to roam the hills again.....The chiggers were glad to see me..............!

Often wondered what had been pulled out of the ground on Privet Knob prior to the No Trespassing signs.

*Sorry....none of the items found came from Privet Knob............Private Property Finds

*My apologies - wasn't implying these were dug at Privet Knob as you were digging in Thompson Station. Simply made a statement regarding how curious I was.

Johnny, don't recall him being attached to a regiment, muster rolls have him Forrest Escort Fall 62 thru the surrender at Gainsville, Ala..
What outfit was your family?

One GG Uncle, Riley Hammons, and his first cousin, Jesse Hammons, were with Napeir's Cav. Btn. After Colonel Napier was killed @ Parker's Crossroads that Battalion was merged with another to form the 10th Tennessee Cavalry. They were in the heavy fighting with Forrest at Thompson's Station. The younger brother to Riley joined the 1st Georgia Cavalry Battalion and was heavily involved in the Reed's Bridge opening action at Chickamauga. My GG Grandpa was in the 16th Tennessee Cavalry. All of these ancestors fought at Chickamauga. Three other GG Uncles were in the 3rd Battalion Missouri Cavalry. Two were killed during the war.

That is my youngest son and myself in my avatar. We are at Chickamauga on the 140th anniversary of the battle on the 20th of September 2003.

One of the above (can't remember which) was a member of a company assigned to Forrest's escort. Could it be we are connected that way? Wow!!!
