I just found this spike on a beach, id like to date it. Not sure that it is really old because it's round, but i'll let you guys talk about it. Thanks!!

Is there any fibers around the head? Cordage was wrapped around the head prior to sinking it to prevent leakage. Highly unlikely any would remain as decomposed as the wood is, but if you find any it would mean pretty old.
 

From Potters guide: " The use of iron and brass spikes and bolts in holding the hull together varied so much that they are not good indicators (of age). In general the galleons' planks were attached to the ribs with iron spikes, while those on the later warships were fixed with brass bolts. Iron was replaced by brass as the result of experiences where it rusted in salt water."
