beaver trap

was wondering if anyone has ever found a beaver trap, of the period still in the field?
maybe still staked down in a river bed? the owner never returned for it?

Out in the field? In water?

No. Would have rusted to bits many many years ago.

Any trap found still staked down is of a much more modern manufacture. Probably only several years old at most.

Probably not what you wanted to hear, but I am an old trapper and know a bit of trap design, manufacture and deterioration.

Still an interesting find.
