I haven't had much time to hunt lately but had about 45 minutes today after work. I went to a spot that's maybe 1/8 mile from my house. I've driven by it 800!times and finally hit it today. Strangest finds yet. First signal I dug a button and in the same hole found 4 glass vials and 2 old medical needles. Glad I didn't jab one of these into me. The button cleaned up pretty well but I haven't been able to find a match to ID it. If anybody knows what it is thank you in advance. The backmark is D Evans Co Attleboro. Lots of gilt but I screwed up a few spots with the naval jelly.

The vials have rubber stoppers and one still has liquid in it. They say TCW Co USA on the bottom. The 2 needles obviously went with the bottles.really curious to know the story with all of these items in the same hole. My strangest finds yet.

I also dug a small coin and was surprised to find that it was a Belgian 2 Centimes coin. Hard to tell the date. It looked like 1837 at one point then 1847 then 1867 so basically I have no idea but it's an interesting coin.

Thanks in advance for any help on IDs.

Thank you buddy. Appreciate the help. Guess I will be headed back to that site

I'd be heading back too, great that it is so close, you'll be able to get a short hunt in anytime you feel like it now.

Yes it cleaned up well, but you had a lot to start / work with. What's that sayin...you can't polish a turd (smiley)

That is a pretty nice freeking button IMO. Too bad didn't have a different title now to reflect it.

Yeah the military buttons are not very prevalent here in Maine so I'm very happy to have my first. Thanks again for the help and it's awesome having this huge site within walking distance. All the best, Abe

Great button Abe ! Cleaned up great ! And Rick got the ID spot on ! I think the vials are more recent ! I once dug a signal that was nothing but old syringes and needles and I mean like a 5 gallon bucket of them that had been buried ! Great that you have a spur of the moment site now ! Not in great condition but I like the little Belgian coin as well ! Maine Relic

Great looking button, and having handled many of those 2 Centimes 1837 would be a good bet because it seems like the most common date.

Hey bud, psyched with the button and it's condition. Really psyched to have a close site

Hello there old friend. Hoping this to be my first of many military buttons. Always amazed that something can clean up this nicely after all those years in the ground

Congrats Ahab on some nice finds! That button should have you stoked and looking to find more! It is up to you but I believe that you should take the vials and needles to a Medical Clinic or Hospital and ask if they can dispose of them in their' Hazardous Waste bins.

Yes, we expect the worst and get pleasantly surprised by the best.

You're now starting to see how a great dug collection comes together, piece by piece over time. And the time will go much faster than any of us want so enjoy the ride!

It really has been fun checking stuff off the list and seeing my small collection evolve. I never dreamed I would knock off so many of my "goals list" items. I've kept very detailed journals with lots of notes and saved all of the gps coordinates of most of my good finds and sites. I've also taken good pics and put each site in different albums. Should be fun to look back at the end of the year. Oh yeah and I don't have to see the RUNNING REALE anymore :-)

Thanks Frank I will absolutely make sure they get disposed of properly

SWEET Navy button Abe. Lot's of nice gold left on that baby! :occasion14:
Odd variety of relics for sure. Glad you didn't stick yourself with one of those needles. Could have been some sort of breast growth meds in those vials. I'd hate to see that happen to you. LOL. :tongue3:
Thanks for the great post Buddy.

Thanks buddy! But what if it's an enhancement of a different kind? Like ancient viagara :-) I might have to try just a little lol

I know exactly what would happen... you'd post those old pics and show him how to wear a dress. :) (Abe probably thinks I'm joking about the pics) :laughing7:

Nice naval button Ahab! I believe the bottles are mid 20th century insulin vials and are totally unrelated to the button.
