Believe It Or Not. 38 Silvers In The Last 2 Weeks.

Hey everyone,

I will start by saying the past few weeks have been a good stretch. I was finishing up hunting a private yard in a old side of town a few weeks ago. Well I wasn't ready to call it a day yet. So I saw a old ball field across the street and said to my boy lets go swing for a few clads and maybe a oldie or two.

Within minutes I had a silver rosie. It got my attention but nothing to exciting. Well that day I was only able to hunt it for about 45 minutes because about 100 kids showed up to play football. But before I left I popped another rosie. Made a mental not and said to myself I will return.

The the rest answers it all. I went back cranked up the V3 and started ripping as many deep signals off this feild as I could. Starting to get nervous that I may be asked to leave. It happens all the time. As neat as I am they just don't want you on these feilds. I have been told to leave some great ball feilds in the past.

This one is pretty much abandoned. It is really chewed up in the center of the feild. I got lucky and not one person bothered me. I made about 7 or 8 trips to this feild. Avg hunt about 2.5 hrs. I had days were I pulled 9 silvers out in 2 hrs. I would call it a day go home shower for work and go about my day.

No rare dates but alot of wheats barber half standing libs etc. This place has been hunted before I could tell. I just don't think it ever saw a etrac or V3. I got lucky. This puts me at 99 silvers on the yr really quick. Couldn't get number 100 today but got some goodies to show next time.

Awesome, finding virgin territory is almost unheard of anymore. I have had no regrets with my V3, just wish I could get out more.

That key with a 'V' on it is a Victrola cabinet key. Have a Victrola which uses the very same one. What a cool find. Ranks up with the P-38.

Sorry for the slow response. My wife works from home now from 5 am to 5pm just about everyday of the week. So my time is limited.

The SLQ are a no date and a 1918S no 17 overdate though I checked.

I am using the eeprom high pro program and crancking the gain up to 15 max. Playing with the filters etc. Looking for blue graphs and deep targets.

Yes, There are still some good ball fields left out there. I found two this yr. One I pulled like 25 silvers from. This field is now close to 50. Got up to 106 on the yr for silver this week. Pulled out 7 more. But it is getting pretty slow now. Time to dig nickle and junque signals.

I am tiered and sore but it has been a good time these past few weeks. I prefer older coinage but will take whatever is around.

Finds are still out there. Time is everything though. The more time I can spend out there the better chances of finding some good old items.

I think you got your hundredth in the bag. Pretty sure theres one more silver at that same place. Gotta be a half dollar in that field.

My goal this year was to hit a hundred silver. I started in april and only made it to 40 . It's my first year md'ing though.

40 Is alot for a first yr. That is pretty good. I try to reach a 100 a yr. There are yrs were I don't get there. The more you practice the more you will find.

I did get a half off of this field. It is in the top left corner second row I think. 1907 D barber half. Yes, I passed a 100. Maybe 120 is a realistic figure this yr. I will be back with more.

I hunted a ballfield very similar last year, I was nervous also but I was very carefull as always and made some very good finds. I was finding stuff way beyond the outfield even!! Not many spots like that left and they are going fast!! Congrats on some good hunting!!
