Richard, I looked your belt plate up in American Military Insignia 1800-1851 by Campbell and Howell and it looks identical to the one on page 36 which is listed at Shoulder-Belt Plate, 1814. There sample was found at Sackets Harbor, New York. Hope this helps, It would go nicely with the shako plume holder I found, see it under what is it category. It also came from an area of around 1814, but I can not confirm the age...Lance
