That's the one I have not a 120mm sorry.

This is a GREAT pinpointer. If you get it make sure to seal the little speaker spot from the inside and you will not have any problems with this unit. $75 is a good price too, I paid $125 for my first one.

I too have a Vibraprobe and love it. Nice and sturdy. Another inch of range would make it perfect but you can't have everything.

Hands down it is the DetectorPro UniProbe or Pocket UniProbe. It will work on any detector, and it will pinpoint 5-6 inches deep. It is basically mini PI detector. 2 versions, one hardwired to a set of headphones , one is the pocket uni-probe (One I have).

Combined with the Ez-Dig-R I can recover deep targets, and when done you can not tell I was there. Maxamum hole width I dig is 1 1/4 inches, if I have to expand the hole it is done like an upside dpwn funnel. | |

I have had my VibraProbe for over a year now and I love it. It is very well built and rugged. Where it really shines is river hunting in shallow water when I get a signal with my detector I can dunk the Vibraprobe right in the water locate the object with the probe and fish it out with my fingers. The bottom is very rocky where I hunt. I also really like it for those targets that pin point off center with the detector. Usually the target is sitting at an angle and throwing off your pinpoint, in that case you can probe around in the sides of the hole with the Vibraprobe to locate it. One great example was the seated liberty 1853 dime I recovered recently. I dug down deep and got no target so probed into the sides of the hole with the Vibraprobe about 3 to 4 inches and located the dime sitting at about a 45 degree angle. Without the hand held probe I might have given up on the hole and left the dime there for someone else to find.

I hope you find one you like,
Steve

I second this. I have the 430 (red one). It does wig out my DFX when I am using it. After using it I kinda hold it behind me for a minute as I continue searching. Seems that if it is a certain distance away its fine. Then it times out and shuts off (wish I could adjust the shutoff timeout). But as said before, it is TUFF. I have jammed it into the soft soil & basically abused it with no ill effect, above or below water.

The BEST pinpointer $$ can buy is the same as we used in the old days of detecting 20 yrs ago and beyond = "none" ;D

I wouldn't buy one of those if you gave it to me - I'll dig/retrieve 2xs the coins/items anyone using one of those does because I don't waste time in doing so and I'll also refrain from spending $$ on something I don't need in the 1st place ;D lol

Whatever floats yer boat though,

have at it, and HH :)

Don't want to argue lonewolfe but I beg to differ. Our Finds have increased since we have been using the pinpointers.

I won't hunt without one, but that's just me.

Agreed!! My recover time more than tripled once I began using my Vibraprobe... and I definitely won't go out without it anymore.

Thanks everyone for all the feedback! I think my problem pinpointing with my ACE is that I still dont know what targets to dig and what targets to not dig. I got a penny reading, solid both ways, and dug up a tiny piece of wire???

I was told to run the ace on All Metal at 4 bars sensitivity...anybody from PA have an ACE and feel like sharing what you usually set it at?

I have never used the ACE, but pennys and most electricial wire are very close in composition so they should probably read close to the same on your unit.

I use the Vibraprobe 560 (I think the latest model is the 570). It has no switches to go bad, and is completely submersable. It comes with a belt holster.

I used to own a White's Bullseye II, but the activation button went bad after only a few months of use. This happened with the replacement unit they sent me as well.

I suggest the Vibra Probe, however, my just died after a year of use. No worries they are replacing it. It is very durable and can be used as a weapon(just kidding).
Get ready for that thing to go off in your car all day if it's not stored point down.
I have to use my Bullseye II, I really hate the switch and weak case(i'm on my second one).

Keep in mind, that tiny piece of wire was most likely copper!

I put a mark on just about everything I dig.
Sometimes just a small tic, sometimes a scratch or even a gouge.

Yes, I use a steel icepick or sharpened screwdriver as a probe/digging tool.

More often, I'm running across targets I am unable to locate in a reasonable period of time.

Whether it may be a small jewelry stud, perhaps a chain, or even a fine ladies ring. Maybe a BB or split shot?
(And, I'm in need a a new prescription!)

Use of an electronic probe could be a wise choice, in many circumstances.

Anyone got one with a broken switch, or otherwise repairable, they would sell cheaply?

Hi Ryan,

I recently sold off my Ace 250, so do know how they operate.

They are awkward to pinpoint with, at best.
Even with the acclaimed detune and drag method, which is a bit more precise than X'ing.

I would disagree with running sensitivity low at 4, unless you MUST, due to chirping, falsing, or unnecessary chatter due to poor soil in your location. It's NOT an overly powerful machine, but they work well.

Surprised at the TRUE ID of a target?
Welcome to the game!
Gold jewelry can pop up across most of the scale, and silver is usually near the top.
You must dig all repeatable targets to find the valuable ones.

Let's try the explanation THIS way...

Very nice sized diamonds, and other precious stones are found on ladies fine-wire jewelry designs that are low conductors and difficult to detect with even the most expensive metal detectors.

Ace Pin-pointing

I have used the ace for two years now and have no problem pin-pointing. When at the beach, I use the jewelry mode and when looking for coins, either the jewelry or coin mode. Pretty simple.

Now if I'm in a junky area with tons of pull-tabs etc--like under and around picnic tables, I custom make a 'cherry picker' mode that eliminates everything but dimes and quarters. I KNOW in that mode it will skip gold and other goodies, but if that is the only way you can hunt that particular area, you might as well get SOMETHING out of it.

The pin-pointing is easy on my machine. One trick I use is that I sometimes place the coil right over where I think the object to be and press and hold the pin-point button a couple of times. This puts the machine in a kinda overload-sounding deal. But keep holding down the pin-point and faintly you will be able to hear the overloaded pinpoint sound. It's always right on the money.

I rarely use all-metal straight out as a search tool. I have found enough to pay for my little yellow machine many, many times over. Now, if I can only do that with the new Excal II I received this week, I'll be doin' just fine.

As for the probe, I don't use one, but will be buying the Vibraprobe for underwater use very soon. I have heard nothing but good stuff about them.

Best of luck to you. I'd recommend you go to youtube and search on the Ace 250 instructional vids. They are quite informative. <><
