not sure if they were twins unmarked...i was shocked at how close these markers were...maybe the ground has been MOVED...dont know its quite small . this poor soul above me is totally out of it!!!!SORRY...Lost it for a minute!

Based on a tip from a friend, I tried to locate this place last night. Stumbled across it around 9:00 pm without a flashlight (or gun). Probably the quickest 180 I've ever done. Went back this evening armed with alot of equipment and it was still creepy as Hell. I'm willing to bet the gate hasn't been opened in many years. In hindsight, this should have been a daytime visit but I'm an idiot and wanted the creepiest possible. I honestly was kinda skeered. You'd think it being Memorial Day and all that someone else would have visited.....yeah right...maybe a hundred freakin' years ago!

This marker is in a far back corner and reads:

Sally
Faithful Servant
Died January 17 1887

Kinda neat that she more than likely was a Slave but is buried in what seems to be a family plot. Based on the gate and the stone wall around the plot, I'm thinking this family was well off for the time and honored their "employee".

Just noticed that an "emblem" is missing from the lower right side of the gate (Picture #1 of this entry)....1320 wondering if it was designed this way?! May have to go back! Maybe some DaVinci Code crap?

Further review of the picture of Sallys' marker states "A Faithful Servant". Didn't catch the letter "A" initially.....I was in a hurry! Sorry Sally.

This one would have been much creepier at night but it's still quite interesting in daylight. Looks like someone built a shrine around this marker. The tops of the wooden posts have small sheets of thick metal hammered around them. Date of death was 1921...no telling what the elements may have taken from the balance of the wooden posts. Lilly Maye (no last name) was 20 years old when she passed. Another interesting aspect of this grave is that the headstone writing faces opposite of the foot marker.

The cemetary is locally known as the Paupers Cemetary. It was financed by the County for the families that couldn't afford a proper burial. I couldn't find any other markers newer than 1921 (Lillys'). She may have been the last one interned here.

Gosh and golly, suprise and wonderment.
I am at a loss for words.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

it is indeed an honor that I have been
chosen as one of the LUCKY few.

First, I would like to thank my Mom and
Dad. They are gone now but I am sure
they are looking down and approve. Without
them..............................

Secondly I would like to thank Miss Cover,
my 4th grade teacher. See taught me so
much. Her spelzings class was really a blast.

I would like to thank Buffalo Bob Smith and all
the kids in the Peanut Gallery; cannot leave out
Clarabell with his seltzer and honking
horn. (the older members will remember).

I would like to thank Nick the grocer. He gave
me my first job when I was 12. He taught me
the meaning of hard work, and how to play all
the angles.

I cannot forget Barney the cop. Gave me
a real understanding of what the world was all about.

Nick the mechanic who sold me my first auto. Spent
so much time in his auto repair shop.

I would like to thank all the folks who have stood by
over the years and just watched in amazement, having
no idea of what was going on.

I think I should mention the good professors who
never really understood what I was doing in their
classes, the few times I attended them.

I am sure that at this moment, Kit Kat, is looking
down from wherever dead cats go.

Would not want to leave out the fellows I had
the opportunity spend some time with in
Joliet, Illinois.

Also my psychoanalyst, who gave me so much time
from his busy day, prior to his overdose.

My family for putting up with the constant
embarrassment.

From my humble start this action just shows the
opportunity that this wonderful county offers any
and all for a wonderful life.

And I would be remiss to leave out TINPAN. Thanks
