Bifurcated points..........let's see some

Here is an OLD pic of some biffy's I found five or six years ago when I first started walking fields. I have found many more since but, I do not have a camera at the moment. The second pic are some bifurcates that I bought off a friends friend who hunted in Pulaski CO. KY. Feel free to post yours. I am really bored and stuck at the house.

Re: Bifurcated points..........let's see some

Hello there,

This old picture of some sorted out one day. Two large are
McCorkles. Early Archaic I haven't seen any on the forum.
Some are and some are not,I am learning alot though.
More than I did anyway, but not about typing.
Grace invaid your space.

I'm still new at the terminology and nomenclature but I have some that look sorta like those.

The serrated one is my latest heartbreaker. Saw it while driving and was all like OMG.

Nice Bifurcate Points posted so far.

Here's a few of mine. The last pic is of a tray that has a few nice Bifurcates in it, including a really nice white Stanly in the circle around the middle.

Re: Bifurcated points..........let's see some

Nice points everyone!!!!!

GL is that a dovetail to the top left of the coin? The one with the killer banding..............is the base ground smooth? Nice points for sure.

Dork KILLER stuff man. Hows it been going over your way? You have some killer stuff. Those Kirks are nice. I found a nice one last weekend but, no dang camera.

Thanks to all for sharing!

Re: Bifurcated points..........let's see some

Thanks Chuck. It hasn't been to bad over here so far. I have found a few really nice pieces this year including my Thebes. I'm going to hit a spot in the morning that just got turned in the last few days and had really two hard rains on it, so I hope I can find me a killer.

Re: Bifurcated points..........let's see some

At last a pleasant thread. :)
My first point was unfortunately a broke but, a Kirk-Bi-Serated, so that wasn't so bad, I'll keep my first find forever.. ::)

Guys ya'll have some wonderful Bi's..
Bruce I have just one Maccorkle, top centre, under the black kirk, I've only ever found one.. :( I've found many Kirks/ Culpeppers Bi-
For those who are unsure of these, they are the Bifurcated, with very rounded points, well worn, just how I like them, kinda like me, lol.
Here is a frame, instead of searching for pics. ;D.
I see that St.Albans, GL, what will it take to pry that from your collection lol.
Also a sweet little Lecroy, under the centre Kirk, again I have only ever found one.. :(
Top centre left, is a Stanly, you can type these easily, notice how close the Bifurcation is? sweet point. ;D
And lastly a couple of Black South-Hamptons either side the centre Kirk..
Great Thread & fantastic finds guys.

Molly. :)

Re: Bifurcated points..........let's see some

GL,

Very nice  Get Airborne80 to take a look at your second picture, at the granite type black projo point upper right of the Morgan dollar--that is a great example of a projo point that has been in a blue line for a very long time being abraided by the water action--yet you can still see where the platform was pressed off.

Nice very, nice photos too.

Thank you.

That is some NICE stuff. I wish I could add some photos to the mix, but you find few of those in my neck of the woods.

Re: Bifurcated points..........let's see some

LOL,

I hear ya! I have looked the shores of Toledo Bend hoping to find a Pedernales point that wandered to the east....no luck so far. There are a few types with the bifurcated base here, but not the norm...at least not the classic form. I will continue my search.

Re: Bifurcated points..........let's see some

Sixgun, nice points! Thanks for the response.

Creekhunter, nice points too man. Looks like you have some really nice ones in that larger case. It is tough to tell from the pic but, is the larger Dove complete? Thanks as well for your participation in this thread.

Chuck

Re: Bifurcated points..........let's see some

Yeah, that's the black material sticking up over the dove, that display represents years of personal finds, lots of walking and a thousands broken ones >:(
Here's the best lil' dove I have ever found...

Re: Bifurcated points..........let's see some

Sixgun where are the points from? very nice finds, you're doing great.

Creekhunter, that's a great frame, nicely set out too. That smaller Dove is a beauty. ::)

I agree that one needs to study materials, what's workable, also types from ones area, before one can even determine finds..That black point above the coin, in GL's post is a fine example of a worn/washed point. One of the best things about hunting is knowing instintively what you've found, I love that part. Pays to study.

Great finds guy.

Molly. Good luck hunting everyone.
