Big Colonial Silver at one of my favorite Cellar Holes!!

johnnyblaze · Mar 18, 2012

Got out to a cellar i found exactly a year ago around this time was the first time i hunted this virgin site :icon_thumleft:

This is a true Colonial site probably abandoned around 1840 or so..Most recent coin on this site was a 1829 Large cent

Started off slow grabbed a couple of regular buttons and a monster musket ball :icon_thumright:

Then i grabbed the key which was probaly the front door key :icon_sunny:

I love these relics

Then on the way back i got a 87 signal or so and had a hard time diggin in the roots $:-\$

Out pops a 1774 Spanish 2 Reale :headbang:

Unfortunately i hit it with the shovel it was pristine condition :'(

I never hit the coins when it is a toasted copper :dontknow:

Right next to it i got another copper..I think it is a state copper :dontknow:

Have fun out there

Here is the entire site finds

That's what I'm talkin about!! :headbang:

Sweet digs man, nice pics and post!

I'd like to introduce a new term for what you did to that Reale: Tina Fey. A beautful woman with a scar on the side of her face. Tasteless, I know; let's see if it catches on. Nice find, in any case.

That's a nice one J.B. I don't see how those tiny cellar holes keep turning out those nice coins. Did they fall trough the floor planks? HH, Quindy.

CrazySlasher · Mar 18, 2012

Hey Quindy all that labor intensive farming and wrestling with those animals will do it $:-\$

If you think about it they were probably really bummed about losing these coins it would feed them for a week..

Another part of this great hobby pondering on the story behind our finds ::)

Excellent hunt... great finds, great pics! Is your dog on duty, watchin for poachers? :laughing7:

BTW, I hit a cellar hole today with that small coil and like you said...the ground comes alive. No coins but lots of relics I missed before, thanks again for your help.

Nice finds. That scratch is why I like to dig deeper than the indication.

aka da Prof · Mar 18, 2012

do you use a pin pointer? I was really amazed at the success at not scratching any coins after my first day out with mine. (see past posts in 'Todays finds')----
