🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Big ring - Was it used as some sort of rigging?

Found the following item. Overall diameter about 4.75". Appears to be made of about 5/8" steel rod, though might be cast. Have not tried any cleanup - this is how it came out of the ground. Found in non-agricultural area. Any help in identifying appreciated.
