hi everyone. this weekend Bergie invited me to come up and hunt with him and a few other forum members (Earthworks, SMS88 and Skunemonk). we started the day at an old colonial house site that Phillip (Bergie) has permission to hunt. Jeff (Skunemonk) found a really cool pocket watch, but Phil and I didn't really come up with anything to speak of. after that we met up with Sean (SMS88), to hunt a stand of woods that Sean has had Major success at recently ( see the banner ). this place is awesome! scenic cliffs overlooking the river, old colonial ruins scattered everywhere, really cool stuff! despite searching for hours none of us could come up with a good find. well most of us anyway, Earthworks did pretty well. look for his most recent post. he found some cool religious items. it was just one of those days for the rest of us, since some of the guys went back today and scored big! look for the post that's coming. ( I'm sure its on the way!). we decided to take a lunch break and head out to an old trusty site that Bergie has hunted off and on for a few years now. most of the easy targets are gone now so i was concentrating on digging those iffy deep targets you wouldn't always bother with. i managed a couple 1917 wheat's, when i found another one under a fallen log. as it turned out it was a 1909 VDB! no "S" :-\ . after recovering the wheat i rescanned the hole and a few inches away i got a deep signal that sounded pretty good. at about 7 or 8 inches out popped this 1920 Walking Liberty Half! i have wanted to find one of these for a long time now so needless to say i was really happy! each of the other guys scored an Indian and some Wheaties as well as some interesting pins and whatnot's. once again i had a great time in NY and i must extend a heartfelt thank you to Phillip for inviting me up! it also was great to see Earthworks again and to meet Jeff and Sean, both of whom are really cool. i had a great weekend! now its back to work time. :( anyway, that's how my weekend went, thanks for looking.

Congrats! That's a beautiful coin!

Very Sweet. Great condition too! A lot better than mine.

It's always fun to see someone else find something good with you. It keeps your motivation high even if your not finding it.

Nice walker hollow,

i was using the Garrett 2500. no particular reason other than we had to pack the gear in on our backs and the Garrett was already broken down. it did better than it ever has for depth at this place. must have something to do with the sandy soil there.

Keith,
Nice finds! The walking liberty was always my favorite coin. I found some in my own yard when I was a teenager with my first detector.
