Yesterday’s rain quit and we had cool temps in N.C. today, a rare occurrence in the South, in July. I met TNetter Smittyman early this morning. Our first two spot didn’t work out, somewhat deflated we headed for a recent demolition site, where the building had been scraped from the ground.

The hope was that the bulldozer had “revealed” some silver, previously hidden by trash.

Sure enough, after about 10 minutes I spotted this sticking out of the ground. It looked just like a silver quarter.

I flicked it with my finger, and out pops a 1944 Washington quarter.

The very next signal, 12” away, is a shallow silver quarter signal. I pull this clod up, and there is another ‘44 quarter!

Smittyman had a silver quarter and a silver dime, so we decided to stop for lunch. It was hot and we both were tired. We went to a cafe and had a nice meal. Over lunch we decided that a bit more hunting might be in order.

We went to one of Smittyman’s “secret” permissions. He usually won’t take anyone there, but today agreed to do so. He is regretting that decision. Within 20 feet of the truck, I got a choppy high tone, the picture is not very good, but I could tell it was a silver half dollar.

Shortly there after a couple of silver dimes got under my coil.

After the second silver dime, Smittyman said we had to go. He said he forgot his “rumatiz” medicine, or some such nonsense.

I was thrilled to have ended the day with 5 silver coins. Only the second Franklin I’ve found in 4.5 years

YTD silver coins: 28

Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunts.

Congrats on that great day Tom, :occasion14: Those Franklins are hard to come by and with digging 5 silvers, I'd be stoked. :headbang:

Thanks LD. It has been a long time since I found 5 silvers in one day, and the Franklin was a real treat. I have found 16 silver halves in my 4.5 years, but this was only my second Franklin, so I was really jazzed about the whole day. See you soon buddy!

Well done, Guys! You think they leave the keys in that Cat overnight? Just sayin'.

We actually discussed skimming a couple of more inches off of the top! However, those clever workmen took the keys with them.

Congrats on a great day Tom / Smittyman. Those Franklin's are a tough coin to pull from the dirt.

Nice work, I'm hoping Smittyman can mustard up a silver or two back at his secret spot, you guys did good.

Wow what a day, you get a free lunch and BIG SILVER! Sounds like you two had a great day! :occasion14:

Awesome! But I feel sick now because I missed a spot like this about a month ago. It's a nice parking lot now :(

Well you certainly cleaned up that spot after the bulldozers helped you two.

Very nice silver collection! :icon_thumleft:

I have spotters all around the city, when they see demolition, sidewalk tear out or woods being cleared, they send a picture to my phone. You have to keep your eyes open and hit them quickly. I have local competitors, so if I am not quick, they will beat me to the goodies.

After finding numerous walkers,Kennedys and a couple of Barber halves I’ve yet to find a Franklin half.

I Hate it when that Happens...8-)...Nice score!!

Very awesome variety of silvers! My YTD silver coins is right around 50. Only one Walker, but I can't wait to get my hands on one of those Benny Franklins. I just think they are a sweet looking coin.
