You had even commented on my post, but took no notice of the button. They were widely used on blazers/jackets in the 20th century but the design comes from Hessian soldiers in the Revolutionary War.

My bad. How oblivious can I be? Must have looked at alot of posts that day...I did read somewhere that Washington treated the captured Hessian soldiers well and some ended up moving here after the war...

I read somewhere that a guy who specialized in civil war ordinances was blown up...they found evidence a 1/4 away...yikes
