Black rock non-metallic

I need help identifying this rock or what looks like a rock. Got it from a friend in Colorado.
It’s about 2 inches long and weighs approx 9.5 oz. It’s very heavy for its size but it’s also very
Soft. I can file off shiny dust from it. Hope someone can help. I don’t know what I’ve got here.
