Black sands

I live in Los Angeles. I camp or go to the beach quite often. There is sooo much black sand on the beaches, is there gold in them there beaches? I’ve brought home some shovels full of sand and have not found any. Any comments or suggestions.

I've had the same experience at Ventura beaches. Some places look like asphalt there is so much BS. I've found no gold, but it's probably deeper! I've been finding gold in my area by finding heavy BS areas on hills with the gold bug.
