This label is on the back of the engraving that potsherd_creek nailed the artist Knute Heldner. I am trying to get a time frame of when he did this work
and was hoping to find the frame shop to see when they were in business from this damaged label. I'm assuming it could be New Orleans but cannot find
a Broad street there to confirm. All help is appreciated. Thanks to all ..............

Judging by the size of the space, I'd say it it probably Bloomfield New York.

I don't see a Broad St there though. New Jersey has one though.

Sort of looks that way, but, if so, the centering of the word Jersey is way off. The "Y" if it is a Y, would be way off to the right of the upper line compared with the B on the other end, and it's relationship to the line above it.

I also did find one in New Jersey but it didn't lead any where. Every comment is bang on and yet some thing that is right in
front of my face is proving to be more difficult to figure out.... Trying to trace the history of the artist Knute Heldner is also
proving to be difficult regarding this label....

Consider looking at some old telephone and/or business directories of Bloomfield NJ. They may be available at the local library. If not, you can ask the library staff to research - their website is https://www.bplnj.org/. Just goes to show, for every hour you spend in the field, you can spend 10 cleaning, researching and preserving artifacts...

This. from a vintage charcoal sketch (maybe 1930s or 1940s), settles the debate about where the framer was. Some Googling, or searches in city directories might narrow down a period of operation for the framer... but it's not a given that this directly relates to the date of the art.
