🔎 UNIDENTIFIED 1914 New Hampshire Painting For Artist ID Help

Date shows what looks like Jan 1914 and I cannot make out the artist signature. My research for New Hampshire artists came up empty.
Any & all help appreciated. Thanks to all .....

Yikes but then again it also reminds me of Aldro Hibbard's work but Hibbard's pallets were more muted tones and snow scenes. It's a fun mystery, can't wait to see if anyone comes up with the artist!

Without knowing it you hit the nail on the head LauraLou56 with the province being Ontario as I got this from an online auction in Ontario.
With just a short follow up on your suggestion of Tom Thompson I found an interesting mention of size of board he used in 1914. It states that in
1914 he went to a larger size of approx. 8 1/2 to 10 1/2 inches, this painting is on a 8 x 10 board.

Very nice painting and frame. When looking at the back of frames, I have seen paintings with this same foundation board template from the 1970's. In the 70's it's possible although unlikely that Grumbacher was still using the same template from 60 years before. Something else to research, until then I would not rule out 1974.

The date is 1974, not 1914. The back is much too modern.

potsherd_creek and vhs07 the more I looked and checked out the board ( could not find the cat# 634-4 ) and the date looked like a 7 or 1 I have to agree
that this is from 1974. I still like Lauralou56's idea about Tom Thomson but will have to research 1970's artists from New Hampshire.. Thanks for your input...

I was just noticing the symbol in left hand corner too? Is it maybe #70? Or initials...love art mysteries! 1974...new avenue!

Could be the lighting, angle of the picture that looks like there is something there when there isn't. On the sellers pictures on the bottom
right it appeared to have a 49 and when received there was nothing. I may have another art mystery in 3 - 4 weeks if my research cannot find anything
first, then I will post here as in the past so many here have solved what I could not .....

Well BigWaveDave that is certainly an observation that I would not have though of. All opinions welcome is the beauty of this forum as everyone sees things a bit different

I can’t help with the artist ID, but I’m pretty sure the mountain is Mt. Chocorua.

No... It was on a 16 x 20 inch Deltex canvas panel
