Here you go bsit1361 ,. the "Whale Rock" , found 30 [?] yr's ago here in So.Cali by a 10 yr old .
Now ,. I believe / think this artifact has origins in the Pacific North west ,. due to the odd double bit ,. which is simuler to the "Slave-Killer" clubs of that area . It has only a single groove ,.. and as a fine little "Nut-Cracker" it would be ,. maybe only totimic in nature ??
I've been mean'n to "re-post" this artifact ,. as there are a number of new faces here [yes, we can now put a face with the name ] . This artifact was first posted in 2008 , at that time the best we could come up with was ,. It's a "Unque intentionally made Gold-fish effigy claw -hammer . Now,. If you would like to read a bit more about it ,. the post was named "The whale rock" last posted on Jul 8 , 08' ., as I lack at "linking"
Anyway ,. really would like to know a bit more about this artifact ,. any idea's ,.:icon_scratch:
Get "Whale" soon ,.. Blindpig

Illiniguy that tiny Celt is great. I have a bit off one from last year that I'm searching for the rest this year. Great stone pieces. Got the jealousy kicking in. And Johnny wow. That's a museum ax for sure.

Love the Celts illini. That's something that I haven't found much of.

That piece is interesting for sure Blind. Would love to come across something like that.

Crazy blind pig. Gonna try and see what I can find out about it. First time seeing that one. Very unique. Can you imagine that in your collection.

Thanks Bindpig

For some reason I'm seeing that as a hammer with the "V" like protrusion aiding in a criss cross wrapping method of hafting. Is there any use wear on what would otherwise be considered the pole? Either way I'm seeing a single bit.. with the other end made to hold cordage to keep it from sliding in the haft.

Thanks man, yes all personal finds from 20+ years of hunting. Kind of bored here myself ( snow on the ground, no hunting in the near future ) so thought I'd post some stuff.

Sounds like a rough ordeal you're going through. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Snow keeps coming and going here. Still hunting but its slow. It is rough but I still have biopsy results to wait on. That's what's killing me is the waiting. Won't know till Thursday or more.

Get well soon bsit1361. There's not much hardstone in my part of the world except for metates and manos. Last year I found this extremely rare boatstone atlatl weight in Nevada. Took me 20 years to find it.

Here's a few more pics of some hardstone pieces. There are some Hematite Celts, some Henatite Rub Stones including one with an X ebgraved in it, another piece of Hematite with all sides engraved, and a bunch of Plummets. Everything here is a personal find except for the Plummet on the left in the last picture and the one on the left in the picture right above that one. Those were both gifts.
