Hi all,

Went to an old site up in the Cascade mountains, what a beautiful day... You cannot beat a nice day in Washington state!!

This was my first real hunt and post. This site is about 15 miles off the highway and a 2 mile hike in. I saw a lot lot's of fresh Bear poop and tracks from all sorts of animals. I'm glad I brought my hunting buddy with my (Mr. 45 Auto) :icon_thumright:

I didn't bother to post my clad finds but did post my bottles and the gun I found. The gun was my first real find, it was about 4 inches down, I sure was taken back when I realized what it was. The barrel appears to have eroded away or? couldn't find that piece.

The bottles I found on the service, I think they were made around the 1930(s)

If the pics don't turn out I will re-post or link to my dropbox account.

See ya....

i found some bottles the other day. They are cool to find never understood how people go bottle hunting. I mean how do you find a bottle underground? i found mine cause a couple had the lid on them still and just kept finding them as i was digging. Always look good when you pull an intact bottle out of the ground!!! nice job!! :icon_thumright:

That gun is a pretty neat find. A relic it that kind of condition might be a good candidate for electrolysis cleaning. Electrolysis should remove most of that crust encased around that gun. Nice find!

Oh yea! those are some great pics of some beautiful country! Thanks for sharing!

did you lug the porcelain out? :laughing7: nice finds

I would love to put the gun in an electrolysis machine, I’ll have to see how much they cost. I’m sure gold is that river, we typically have placer gold, so it’s a lot of work to get that out.

As for the toilet, that came from the house that was on the property. Maybe they left that as a courtesy ;D And those are pine needles in the bowl, as far I could smell, I mean tell :D

I use a 12 volt battery charger, with meter and output control but those are not necessary.
fill a plastic tub about 1/2 full of hot water then add abt a tbsp of table salt.
attach the negative(-) clip to the object to be cleaned, and attach positive(+) to a stainless steel spoon.
immerse both the object and the spoon(with clips attached)into the salt but insure that the objects are not touching, then plug in the charger.
In a few minutes you should see some bubbling around the pistol.
check after about an hour, and rinse, then re immerse as necessary.
a 12 volt wall wart will also work but should have at least a 1 amp output.
HH,Mont

Oh I use detector to find trashdumps, then use a 4foot fiberglass rod as a probe

Nice hunt and post! Hate to say it but, the gun looks like an old zinc cap gun with the type of corrosion on. HH, Mike
