This week was sort of bleh, but we all go through them. Funny because the first half box gave up 3x64, one Ben, and one 68. The other 8 boxes for the week were skunks. On top of that my Friday bank "did not receive their half shipment." The (new) VT said she has been trying to order but they don't drop them off....interesting because all the other banks have been getting them. I didn't mention that, but this was my really good branch, I have been picking up 4-5 boxes/week for near a year. New VT, now there are "problems with the courier." Oh well lol. Maybe she is telling the truth. Im compensating by activating some of my reserve order banks.

Today I went to a local coin show, with 600 40% halves in tow, foolishly expecting to be taken seriously on a trade up to gold. None of the dealers even made an offer lol.

One of the dealers had a bunch of broken up proof sets in bins with a 20% off sign (coins in 2x2s). So, I sat there for a few min and looked through some of them. Low and behold there were 4 (that I could find) silver quarter proofs (HI, ND, OK, SD) all marked $6. I bought all 4 for $19 OTD. Also in the box was a lone 64 quarter, marked $5, snagged it for $4 something. My best coin show scores so far lol. Funny thing is they had the proof dimes marked at $4, go figure.

For the week:

9 boxes halves. 8 Skunks. 3x64, 1x63, 1x68. $240 CWR halves all skunk. $200 CWR dimes for 1x46.

Hope everyone is tearing it up! HH!

Seems we both have been forced to purchase from auctions/shows/stores as of late.

I am not tearing it up but I am sure as hell tearing up, my cheek is wet and my mascara is running at the price point I have been buying at as of late.

I am keeping all my 40%'s, canadian silver and such because I know the LCSs around here won't give me a good price. more often than not they offer me a third of what their's worth. I understand people wanting to make a profit but really...::sighs:: Oh well. Worse comes to worse I can melt the foreign stuff, make bars, then sell them for spot.

Anyways, congrats on the Coinshow finds. I haven't been to a coinshow in 2 decades. Too far away.

Hugs and smiles,
garoulady

Yeah its tough to fork over the cash. That $23 would by 46 silver halves...trouble is finding them lately lol.

Not a thing against buying coins. Bought plenty in my time for collection purposes. Bought silver coins in bulk for investment. Nothing wrong with it. Occasionally you'll run into a coin dealer/seller who needs the cash and you can really get right in a hurry.
