Bouy found

Hi
I found an old bouy while digging a hole for a fence post, aluminium, non magnetic.
It weighs 1130 grams and measures 7 inches diameter X 7 inches tall.
How old would this be ?

Since it's aluminium it would be less than 100 years old. While aluminium is a common metal, it was worth more than gold prior to the 20th century and used for only the most important of objects since it was hard to refine. So my guess is that it would date to the 1950's to 1960's.

I found one on the beach a few years back i guess there still using them in the caribbean some place it was found after a lot of south winds

I live near the very end of the Arkansas River navigation system and at least two or three times a year find a navigation buoy that got loose and drifted up into shallow water.These are the big old can buoys made of steel and weigh a bunch.I always call the Coast Guard HQ in Pine Bluff and they always come and get them.Surprisingly for these times I usually get a thank you from them That,s a nice float you have there.
