Dug a small bracelet out of a school totlot this morning and it looks like silver. I couldn't see any markings as "sterling" or ".925" ,and this symbol is on the clasp and the clasp connector.

Any idea as to what it represents????

Arabic or similar script , no doubt means something , its definately not a hallmark as you rightly pointed out.Take a piece of white tissue and rub the piece , like polishing , if it turns the tissue black you have silver.

One of the guys on the Whites Detecting Form got it solved.

The symbol is for a Hindu God named Mahaveer.
The item is an ankle bracelet and is supposed to have a tiny bell in the hole on the center part.
