✅ SOLVED Brass/Bronze bracket, Rifle sling bracket or furniture pull?

Hi. I dug this many years ago but never got a definitive ID. This was dug in an area where we pulled up some Connecticut and Eagle buttons as well as a cleaning rod guide, oddly enough no dropped bullets. The bracket is 2.5 inches wide. It has a beveled hole on one side and a threaded hole on the other.

It was suggested to me that it might be a carriage step bracket but I am skeptical that it could support the weight of a person given the material as well as screw hole diameter. It was also suggested that it may be a furniture pull but the screw hole part of the bracket seems rather elaborate for that.

My first thought was it may be an early rifle sling bracket but I do no know enough about early firearms to be convinced of that either.

WAGs and SWAGs appreciated but would like to get a definite answer please.

Looks too stylized for a sling bracket, especially with the curved section looking like it is tapered for fingers rather than flat for a strap. Just a guess, I'm in the same boat on firearm knowledge.

I would agree, furniture pull. I was a furniture maker & had my own business- repair/ restoration shop for many years. we used to call these Dutch drop pulls, in common use 1720_ 1750's. https://croft.co.uk/products/beaded-dutch-drop-handle
