Weird looking thing. Almost looks like a jaw. I think it’s brass. Found on farm dating back to 1720. Some said it was a furniture piece but I am not totally sold. About a inch and a half in length.

I've seen pieces of bronze that looked like that after having been buried for awhile.

Did like putting puzzles together? Growing up there was always one on the coffee table and every now and then me or someone would sit down at it and piece it together. Sometimes me and a friend would work together on it and brain storm or conversate over something as we hunted for pieces to fit. Then there was clearly the final three pieces left, but you see there's only two in the box. Then begins the hunt, on the floor, under the coffee table and all around looking for that one puzzle piece. You may even speculate who lost it or swear the puzzle company shorted you a piece.

Hmmm interesting take. However it is pretty thick and thickness isn’t uniform. Some parts thicker than others and it also is curvy. Will try to get a side picture soon.

Interesting relic! :icon_thumleft:

I wonder if its associated with a machine that has positional stops (like a parking pawl)? :dontknow:

Sorry for late pics but this is why I don’t think it’s a clock gear. It’s not uniform enough in thickness and it’s wavy almost. I know it could be bent over time but the thickness difference is what confuses me. Wish I was part of a old musket or something

To me it looks like part of a metal working waste piece. Either part of the moulding process or one that went wrong.
