Hi mates.
I'm back in action after two months. Time after time I've been searching about ancient and lost cities. I red about a very ancient one but only on one old historical book. I couldn't find any other info and it was even hard to decide where to look for it. Even though I jumped on the car and headed to the hills. New roads are build over the old one. Olive trees are very helpful too but the instinct is great. I stoped near some old olive trees to reflect. I was just looking around when I noticed some pot fragments. They looked old and I smiled at them. The hardest part was to decide where to begin. Once I began the coins led me to each other.
Because of the difficult terrain I got tired in 7 hours but turning back home with more than sixty coins and other bronze stuff was great.
Thanks guys for reading. If you have any idea about the coins you are welcome.

Great instincts on looking for a site. Liking the totals for coinage and the relics. The one with the hooked end, loom related or hanger? Congrats on your post up, and be sure to post up some of the cleaned up examples.

Wow, I thought they were the bottom part of big pots. First I didn't want to put them on my bag because of the weight. :icon_scratch:

These weights can be huge... Yours look like the cone shaped weights. You get them made of stone, lead or fired clay.

I never thought about it but I think you are right. I've found the same in an other site and somebody thought it was used for hanging. I think you're definitely right, it is related to the loom. Thanks.

Hey Vince, I always enjoy ur posts, I am voting banner for that awesome ancient silver drachme.

I want to ask you something without any criticism intended (my hunts are not always 100%legal I admit)
Is it legal in Macedonia to simply go anywhere and start detecting or do you need a special permit or how do you handle this?
(no worries, will be the last to judge if its only 99%legal XD)

Thanks Benjamin! I appreciate your vote.
In Macedonia there's a mess with the ancient heritage due to the politics. We have a lot of history but not all of it shows a great interest on this and other governments. The Archeological institute depends on the government funds. Finding a unexplored ancient site is not rare but it doesnt mean that the Archeological Institute didn't have any info. They were not interested on it. Even though, I respect the laws and try to avoid historical places and if I find any historical stuff I would call them. I've heard that other guys have found pots full of coins and the next day the coins were on the black market. I don't agree with that. I hope that one day any museum will show interest on my collection .
Finding ancient coins is not an easy job, you know it. We spend a lot of time and efforts. We do a great job because no institution would do it. The idea that some day, someone will build a house, a factory or a road and thus stuff will be lost forever, brakes my heart. :)

Here is a modern loom hook. For sure I have found other loom iron tools. I will check my stuff.

Peloponnesos, Phlius, ancient coins index with thumbnails - WildWinds.com

Unfortunatelly i have only the reverse on my phone but im very happy to have this coin.

Phlius (/ˈflaɪəs/; Ancient Greek: Φλειοῦς, Phleious) was a Greek city in the northwestern Argolid (now in modern Corinthia, near Nemea), in the Peloponnese, said to be named after the Greek hero Phlias but formerly called Araethyrea (/ˌærəˈθɪriə/; Ἀραιθυρέα, Araithurea), after the mythological Araethyrea.[1]

Although geographically close to Argos, the city became a Spartan ally and a member of the Peloponnesian League.

Like many other cities of ancient Greece, Phlius fell into civil strife between a democratic and an oligarchic faction during the 4th century BCE; the democratic faction initially gained control and exiled its opponents, but in 380 BCE a Spartan army under Agesilaus laid siege to the city for some twenty months, eventually forcing the Phliasians to capitulate and accept oligarchic government.[2]

In 229 BC Phlius was ruled by the tyrant Cleonymus, when Aratus of Sicyon convinced him to step down and let his city join the democratic Achaean League.[3]

It was the hometown of the playwright Pratinas and of Plato's female student Axiothea of Phlius.
