Bucket list coin! 1831 Capped Bust Half Dollar!

Haven’t been out detecting a lot this year but got a new carbon shaft for my Equinox 600 from Steve’s Detector Rods last week and finally got out late today to try it out. Went to a site that I have been to many times and it is pretty worked over but wanted to get out and spend some time with the new detector rod. After a couple hours was getting ready to leave and figured would check along an old metal fence that just had some vegetation cut back from it before I left. Got a signal about 8-10” from the fence at one point that jumped a lot but was getting some really great signals / high tone mixed in with the detector also picking up the fence. Had to dig under a large root and was deep at around 7-8” until finally I pulled out a 1831 Capped Bust Half Dollar! This is my first Capped Bust and it’s in great condition. I still can’t believe it. This is one of my “bucket list” coins I did not think I would ever find. Only coin I have that’s older is a large cent. The Equinox again showed me how it can detect deep and am happy with the new carbon shaft from Steve’s Detector Rods. Thanks for looking, sorry the photos are all sideways. Not sure how that happened.

Thank you to everyone for their great replies, comments, likes, etc. I've been metal detecting on and off for many years and this coin is my best find ever. A coin that I never thought I would find especially in this condition. Also in the 10+ years I've been on Treasurenet this is by far the most views, likes and replies to any other post I have made. Thanks again!

Wow! That is an absolutely beautiful specimen. You sure don't see coins like that posted every day. Well done!!!!

You bought an 1829 Capped Bust half for a quarter! Crazy!!
People don't recognize them and think they are junk tokens. I have had people refuse to accept susan B's and Sacas As payment at yard sales. Even when you point out the use one dollar on the coins. old money gets tossed into the quarter junk bins with all the badges and tokens.People just don't pay attention

Great Find!!! Congrats!!!

great find, I'm jelly
