Dug my fourth seated silver of the year finding this half-dime in the a shallow stream bed. Got a nice high tone at 21 on the Vanquish 540.

wow! that is an amazing find! how'd you pick the stream?
A little lucky I guess. I'm fairly new to detecting and had just bought my Vanquish in May of 2020. In a rush to try it out, I raced to a local public park but the fields and trails were being used by so many folks I just decided to get off the path and go into the woods. There is kind of a flat area adjacent to and overlooking this stream where to my surprise and luck, I dug my first IHP that very day.

I had dismissed the find for a long time as dumb luck and with so many "better" places to hunt I did not return to that spot until March of 2021. In March, I returned on a whim and found a seated dime and two more IHP's that day and returned the next day and found a seated quarter. Now I know the place is special. I shared the spot with my partners and one found another seated dime and a 18K gold ring. We returned again and another partner found what we believe is a CW dog tag. We have hunted the flat a few more times and have found several more IHP's, a V-nickel, a Shield nickel a Buffalo nickel and the total of four seated coins from this spot including the half dime.

I am thinking that the flat at one time, was not wooded but perhaps a grassy picnic or gathering spot for a swimming hole in the stream. I am very blessed and lucky to have stumbled on what I call my "best" spot. I look forward to seeing what else can be saved.

It's so nice to find a spot like that. Thank you for your story about it. That makes it really interesting to readers like me, another detectorist but an old one.

Thank you for reading Almy! Only wish I had started detecting sooner.
