Found this buckle frame near an historic farmhouse in Hunterdon county, NJ. The dimensions are 85mm x 50mm. There doesn't appear to be any design. Any insights as to type (shoe buckle?) and age would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Classic shoe buckle frame. Mid to late 1700's is my guess. Nice find.

Agreed with Jeff, the telltale sign is the thicker parts on the top/bottom of your picture that likely have little holes where the inner pieces were attached.
