Your kidding me right, I mean Im always amazed to find this stuff, and It wasent that old a place. Does the back look correct as to where the hinge part would be?

Amazing, thanks for the link BC! It does appear the end loop thing is broken off, what about the measurment is that corrrect, Im hardly beliving this, its to good to be true so far.

It does have a marking it appears to be 224 then a space and a 3

Hey Indian wars is plenty old enough for me. Mine did have the Hoop on the end not the Back (broken off now), so that ones not quite like it. but as close as iv seen yet.
BB dated it 1851 to 1881 love to pinpoint it.

What does the #'s mean anyway?

Oh...I didn't realize it had the loop on the end. In that case, I don't know, lol. I researched the one I found, which is exactly like the one in the link I posted. Other than that, I am not knowledgeable about these buckles. I do know that while I was looking at buckles to ID mine, the ones with the loop were pretty much always older than the ones designed like the one in the link I posted. So, maybe yours is civil war era after all! Either way, still a very cool find....
